Is it real that in 10 weeks or less I will be holding a baby? ahh so surreal. These past 2 weeks I think I got a lot bigger. D keeps saying “wow it IS big” – meaning my bump. haha Some of my maternity shirts are not even fitting now. Boo The other day I thought about how I would design a maternity line… Lots of long tanks in all different patterns, some striped, some floral, big chunky knit open-front sweaters, leggings in every neutral color possible, and scarfs.. lots of lots of scarfs. Too bad I can’t sew very well 😛
I’m pretty much finished with registering (I think!). I decided to register at Target and Amazon after a bunch of people told me about bad experiences with Babies ‘R’ Us. Anyone have anything I MUST register for?? I would love the suggestions! I need to get going on designing my baby shower invitations which I really wanted to do myself. I’m thinking a woodland theme 🙂 Hopefully I’ll share that soon!
super long tanks and shirts are a must in maternity wear – i’m all of 5’2″ and grew out of half of mine by 30 weeks as well!
if you’re going to formula feed, register for the Dr. Brown’s formula pitcher mixer thing. it’s genius!
Congrats on the baby, I also have a baby boy, hes 18 weeks today!! In the beginning my favorite (no matter how impractical) was the wipes warmer. He HATED cold wipes and this really made him feel much better, especially since it has to be a VERY quick and covert operation when changing a little boy!!! 🙂 Second his boppy pillow!! He loved napping in it and it helped him to be elevated some so he could peek around the room when he was up. Good luck!! I may be biased, but baby boys have a VERY special place in their mommas hearts!! 🙂
My top 5 newborn musts
1 diapers diapers diapers size nb and 1
2 night gowns, even for boys (think early morning diaper change)
3 Vaseline
4 night light!
5 bassinet or pack n play
I’m due this week, and all the maternity clothes I bought no longer fits. I’m just sticking to these long tank tops and cardigans I have. 🙂
I would not have survived the first couple of weeks without my boppy pillow. It was really helpful with breastfeeding, baby naps, and even as a neck pillow (for me!) to sneak in naps while sitting up! ha 🙂 I still use it now for baby to sit up supported, it has definitely proved to be versatile!
Ooo good tips everyone! Keep them coming!
I also loved my Boppy. Since I breastfed exclusively at least until we started daycare…it was good to have that extra support when you sit a lot.
I love a good carrier. Not expensive. Just one that works for you. Baby wearing makes some of those at home tasks possible that just couldn’t get done before. Like laundry or eating hah.
WOW! i havent seen you blog in a long time now i saw it and well WOW! and i just love the little notes that you right at the bottom for the baby 😀
Aww thanks Emma! Hope you are doing well 🙂
how exciting!!!
here are some things that i loved for faith:
1. the boppy was good, but i really liked the brestfriend because you could snap it around you so it fit better and didn’t slide around.
2. moby wrap! once you learn the easy way to get it on, it was super snug and comfy (especially when they are leetle). when they get bigger, it is more comfy for your back as well than other carriers that we tried.
3. lots and lots of large burp cloths. they are perfect for wiping up messes of every kind, wrapping the baby up when you’re inside, covering surfaces that you want to set him down on, etc.
4. someone bought us one of those playmats with the things that hang over it and it was great! once he gets older, he can lay under it and play with it (once they are moveable, though, they don’t really play with it as much) plus it is easy to transport so even when you go to people’s houses that have nothing for babies, he can have something.
5. it’s nice to have a very small thick blanket to cover them when they are in the carseat, esp since you live somewhere cold. most blankets you get are too big. i knit one when i was in the hospital and we used it ALL the time. i don’t know if they sell them, but i can knit you one if you want 🙂
