This project was near and dear to my heart. Not just because the branding was for our home church when we lived in Arizona or that my client Peter, the new high school pastor is one of our very good friends, but because of what Salt means. Their mission statement: “Salt is a welcoming community of students desiring to introduce others to a real and relational God.”
“We chose the name Salt for our high school ministry because we wanted this to be a place anyone can be a part of, not simply the ones who have it all together. When Jesus says, “You are the salt of the earth” in Matthew, he’s not speaking to the people who know everything or have their lives all figured out. He’s speaking to a crowd of people on the outside, the ones still trying to get it together, and he’s calling them salt. Salt was used not only to add flavor, but also to preserve food, to make it last, to save it. Jesus is saying, “You are the salt of the earth. You are the ones who will add flavor to this world. And you are the ones who will save it.” – Peter, High School Pastor
Peter wanted the logo to be modern, bold, graphic, and be able to stand on it’s own without the word “Salt” so it could be used on T-shirts, decals, and other branding materials given out to students. The logo also needed to follow the church’s branding and have 2 versions for their high school programs which meets on Tuesday night and Sunday morning. That helped drive the color scheme – dark blue with white lines to represent night and bright yellow to represent morning.
I also designed 5 social media icons that match the style of the logo.
Here’s a couple examples of how they are already using the logo:
Here is the Salt introductory video:
I absolutely love how this turned out. When a project’s purpose inspires and the clients are passionate about their mission, the results are great. I feel honored I got to be part of such a visionary project and purpose. I can’t wait to see how God uses Salt in the lives of students and my friends who were called to lead it!
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” Matthew 5:13
“Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other.” Mark 9:50
“Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” Colossians 4:6
Great work! I love the color set and different elements!
