JACK’S WOODLAND NURSERY

Finally!!

I’m so excited to share this with you all! It is the one room in our house that I can actually say is complete (if there ever is a ‘complete’). I know Jack is 10 months now but I’m giving myself a break on this one since we didn’t even move in until Jack was 2 months old. And I’m glad I took my time to pick out the right finishes. It is almost exactly what I was envisioning. So here goes…

My favorite part of the room is the wood wall. All the credit goes to D and my Dad. My Dad knew someone with an old barn that was going to be torn down so before it was demolished they went out and tore down one side of the barn. Then they cleaned up the wood, put it up, and varnished it. I absolutely love it.

My second favorite item in the room is the rocker. It was my one “splurge” item, from Pottery Barn Kids. The pillow is from Target and  Ollie the Elephant was a gift, originally from Scentsy.

My sister Hannah found the antlers and then we spray-painted them white. The alphabet print is from here and the frame is from Hobby Lobby. My mom gave me the nightstand which was originally made by my Dad and the lamp and clock are from Ikea. The industrial light is also from Ikea.

Oh the quilt. My mom made it and I’m in love with how it turned out but it was sort-of a nightmare at first. I had bought all these muted stripes and plaids that were going to be the quilt and bedding but after stressing about it for some time, it just wasn’t what I pictured. I knew I wanted some pops of color. So we started over, took a second trip to Cannon Falls and bought the blue plaid, blue stripes, red plaid, and the red trim. We were going to do a traditional quilt pattern but it still wasn’t looking right. So we went to yet ANOTHER fabric store and got the green plaid and navy plaid. Then we changed the design to be simpler and more modern – just 12 inch squares next to each other with trim around the whole thing. The inside of it is a cozy brown fleece.

My mom also made the fitted sheet and crib skirt (LOVE her). The actual crib was a gift from my parents from ShopKo. The letters JACK are from Hobby Lobby that I spray-painted silver. The “lil fella” banner you may remember from my baby shower (which my mom also made and did the hand lettering). The sleep sheep I got at my shower, the bird mobile was handmade, and the rug is from Ikea.

This print I made, the frame was thrifted, the lamp from Target, and the paper weight is from Home Goods. Which btw, I didn’t even know was a jack when I picked it up until D says “oh cool because it’s a jack??” Ah yeah that’s why!

Also on the same bookshelf (from Target) are blocks from Amazon, handmade blocks by my Aunt from when I was a baby, and the county sign which I got at an antique store in Milwaukee.

On the other side of the room is the changing station. I got the dresser from a local antique store for $100. D made the changing pad holder from this pattern and my mom made the fitted cover for it which matches the crib skirt. The dispenser is from Target and is filled with hand sanitizer. The drawers of the dresser are filled with diaper-changing essentials.

The curtains were made from the muslin table cloths at my baby shower. The bunting banners were also from my shower which my mom and sister originally made.

This wall is right next to the changing station. The picture shelves are from Ikea along with the wood mirrors. The little man frame and silhouette plaque were made by good friends.

The animal prints are from this etsy store and each come with a cute story. The frames are from Hobby Lobby and I spray painted them black.

Obligatory Talullah shot.

This will be Jack’s room until we move so it will be interesting to see how it transitions. I think it will work well though as he grows since it isn’t super ‘baby’. It’s definitely one of my favorite rooms in the house so hopefully it will be his too!
