3 LOOKS FOR $4

No, no, don’t worry, this isn’t the final product. ;) Abby and I found this ensemble at Savers a couple weeks ago for $4. Though it has the appearance of multiple pieces, it is actually all attached into one dress. We saw the fabric and instantly realized the potential it had. And the best thing about it, there was so much fabric to work with! So, now I will show you how we turned this 80′s get-up (including shoulder pads) into three completely different looks! Here we go…

Look One:

For the first look, we focused on the top. All that was done was detaching the top from the bottom. It came apart very easily, with little work to be done. From there, we turned the shirt around, and wa-la! A new high necked shirt, with a deep V back. Paired it with jeans, a thick brown belt, and feather earrings.

Look Two:

For the second look, we focused on the bottom of this crazy 80′s outfit. After detaching the top from the bottom, Abby added elastic to the top of the new skirt, creating a waistband. From there, she crocheted five belt loops and sewed them around the waist. And there we have it, an unexpected twist to a full skirt!

Look Three:

We took the tassel belt from the original outfit for our third “look.” After much experimenting, we finally agreed that we would turn the tassels into a necklace. After even more experimenting, we finally decided to make it look like this.

So there it is! 3 looks for only $4! Yay for Savers!

How fun! I see so many of these fogey two-piece ensembles at thrift stores. Now I have an idea for them– THANKS!

Seriously… you have a gift from God, because there is no way I could have EVER thought to do that. That was like “Extreme Makeover for Ugly Dresses”!

I love this! This is awesome! So I’m heading to Rochester to visit my sister sometime in early July. If you’re free I’d love to meet you. If it’s not too imposing maybe you could show me around Savers. I love thrift shopping!
